Darkroom Gallery Call for Entries: Curvilinear

FinishedPlanar lines that wind, wend and soar through a image’s field of focus.

Curving components within a photograph give the image depth, allowing the viewer’s eye to move through the frame almost effortlessly.  It is almost as if the photographer takes the viewer by the hand, draws them into the frame, and points the way. The viewer’s eyes are compelled to follow the line of the curvature. Curved lines are graceful, rhythmic, dynamic and add energy to an image. They can separate or connect elements or simply offer a balance to a photograph. Arches, circles, S curves and implied curves can be created by a variety of subject matter.
