Only one entry per person. Entries must be the original work of the author. Entries on behalf of another person will not be accepted and joint submissions are not allowed. Your entry must not have been entered in any other competition anywhere in the world, or have previously been published either in whole or in part.

Entries can be posted or emailed. Posted entries must be sent to: the gap-year guidebook Travel Competition, John Catt Educational Ltd, 12 Deben Mill Business Centre, Woodbridge  IP12 1BL, UK. Your name, address and telephone number should be included.

Emailed entries must be sent to [email protected] with the subject line “2010 Travel-writing / photography Competition”. The essay entries must be sent as a Word document attachment. The photograph entries should be in JPEG format. The winner may be required to send high-resolution copy of image on CD for publication in the gap-year guidebook. Your name, address and telephone number should be stated in the body of the email, with a short description of where and when the photograph was taken.
