Commitment to Excellence in Art and Sport: A Fine Art Competition

Your photographs must depict collegiate athletes or teams, past or present, in one of the NCAA sports: baseball, basketball, bowling, cross country, fencing, field hockey, football, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, track and field, lacrosse, rifle, rowing, skiing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, volleyball, water polo, and wrestling. These works should show the collegiate athletes’ intersection with academics.

Awards:

  • Three $2,500 prizes will be awarded in addition to Medals to the top three entries in each of the competition’s three categories: painting/2D, sculpture/3D and photography.
  • One $2,500 Germain G. Glidden Best of Show Award honors this portrait artist-national champion squash player who founded the Museum in 1959 and is given by his daughter, Christine D. Glidden, chair of the competition.
  • Up to 30 pieces will be selected by the jurors for exhibit by the Museum at a venue to be announced. The exhibit will open in the Spring 2013.

Jurors: Marc Mellon (sculptor), Everett Raymond Kinstler (painter), Bruce Helander ( art editor).

Winners will be notified by February 4, 2013.

 Entry limited to up to 5 pieces per artist.

Image requirements: JPG format; between 1,400 and 2,000 pixels per inch at the largest dimension, at 300 dpi.
