POYi is the oldest and one of the most prestigious photojournalism programs and competitions in the world.
When you enter Pictures of the Year International, your work becomes a part of visual history. Since 1943, POYi continues to be a living and a valuable reflection of human and world events.
We are excited to add a new premiere category to his year’s competition. The “Global Vision Award” will recognize coverage of environmental, natural history, or scientific issues. POYi also is expanding its multimedia division with a new category, “Best Multimedia Project,” which reflects our profession’s growing online importance. And we are unveiling another new category, “Portrait Series.”
AWARDS AND RIZES
Photographer of the Year
Newspaper and Magazine Photographers of the Year each will receive a Tiffany crystal engraved trophy and a $1,000 cash award. The runners-up will receive a plaque and a $500 cash award and the third-place winner will receive a plaque and a $250 cash award.

Global Vision Award
POYi is offering a new premiere category honoring extended coverage of an environmental, natural history, or recipient of this award will receive a crystal engraved trophy and a cash award of $1,000.
Portrait Series
This is a new multiple-image category that complements the single portrait category.
Best Multimedia Projects
The multimedia division will expand to honor the best extended series or project that encompasses a long-form story or multiple chapters. The team will be recognized with a $500 cash award to the organization and a plaque listing all the participants.
Magazine Single Spreads or Covers Editing
There are two new categories in the Magazine Editing division that are single spreads or covers related issue. The to both news and features.
Entry and registration process
Registration and entries will be accepted electronically online at www.poyi.org. Deadline is Friday, January 18, 2008. There is $50 entry fee per person, which includes up to 15 submissions across single image categories, multiple photo story categories, Photographer of the Year portfolio category, and others. The fee may be made electronically online during the registration process.
