- Technology, Information & Participation – Photos should explore how technology helps citizens get the information, news and education they need to more fully participate in their own communities.
- Improving Communities – Photos should explore how citizens mobilize to address important issues related to conflict, the environment, gender, etc.
- Education & Employment – Photos should explore how education can prepare youth, women and others to participate in the workforce and improve the economic vitality of developing countries.
