« Crop out as much background as possible to help direct the viewer to your subject in the photo, unless the background has compelling information important to your composition such as a scenic sky or other important element. Close-ups may provide the most visual impact, as the subject matter is taking up most of the composition. »

As always we encourage photographers to interpret the brief in the widest sense, portraying your subjects with emphasis on their identity as individuals.

You may enter a single image or a series of up to six related images.
Images can be of both people and/or animals.

You will need to register on the website and receive your password and username before entering a competition.

All LPA competitions are Internet based and entrants submit their entry[s] by uploading jpeg files.

It is best to work with a large version of your image before reducing it in size to send to the competition. In some cases winners will be asked to submit a 20×16 exhibition quality print to be used in exhibitions organized by the LPA.
