new east photography contestThe mission of Calvert 22 Foundation is to support and share the contemporary culture and creativity of the New East – Eastern Europe, the Balkans, Russia and Central Asia – enriching perceptions of the region and furthering international understanding.


  • The winner of the New East Photo Prize will be offered the opportunity to publish a body of work as a new photo book, produced on their behalf by Calvert 22 Foundation.
  • The Special Prize is dedicated to unfinished documentary projects. The winner will receive a £1000 grant toward the completion of their project from New East Photo Prize partner Bird In Flight, an online magazine about photography and visual culture.
  • Shortlisted finalists will have their work shown in a two-month group exhibition at Calvert 22 Foundation’s space in London opening in November 2016.

The winner will be announced in December 2016.

For each project you may submit up to fifteen images. Series will be judged as a whole.

Image requirements: 72 dpi and between 1MB and 3MB, RGB mode, JPEG format maximum quality.

Judging criteria: artistic merit. Online submission of digital photographs via the website.
