Theme: ‘Great British Insects’

Enter photographs that feature an insect (or group of insects) occurring naturally in the situation in which it is photographed. The subject should be within the overall competition theme of ‘Great British Insects’: non-native insect species reared in captivity and insects photographed outside the British Isles are not eligible subjects. Studio photographs of posed specimens, or photographs of preserved dead specimens, will not be considered.

Prizes:

  • Entrants under-18:
    • First prize: Olympus digital SH-25MR camera and £300;
    • Second prize: Olympus digital VR-340 camera and £150.
  • Entrants 18-or-over:
    • First prize: Olympus photographic equipment of your choice to a value of £500;
  • The three 1st prize-winning images will be published in the Royal Entomological Society’s bulletin Antenna.

The winners and runners-up will be notified by 30 November 2012, and will then be asked to provide the digital files or negatives/transparencies.

Submit unmounted prints – minimum size either A5 (210×148mm) or 8”×6”, maximum size either A4 (297×210mm) or 12”×8”.
