Photocompete

• Copyright: Entrants will retain copyright in the photographs that they submit and grant to the Society of Biology the right to publish and exhibit their photographs at the awards event and to use the image(s).
• Entry fee: Free
• Entry deadline: 31st July 2012
• Who can enter: Open to all non-professional photographers worldwide.

Biology is at the heart of many challenges we now face, including: food security, disease, sustainability, climate change, species extinction, an aging population, and more. Submit pictures that show the biological problems and solutions that are important to you. This could be a piece of research that has the potential to cure disease, an environmental issue that needs more urgent attention, or a subject matter that you are particularly passionate about.

Prizes:

• Photographer of the Year (over 18) – £1000
• Young Photographer of the Year (18 and under) – £500

You may submit a maximum of 3 images. Short-listed photographers will be notified in August/September.

Image requirements: JPEG or TIFF format; sufficient resolution to produce A2 size prints. Only basic post processing is allowed.
