The magic of the still life is the transcendence of the artist’s vision over everyday, sometimes mundane, subject matter. From Edward Weston’s peppers to Peter Hujars’s tenement debris, the still life magically transforms the flotsam and jetsam of our ordinary lives into fine art. 1650 Gallery welcomes your take on the still life.

Award:

  • 25 to 30 works will be chosen from submitted photographs to be included in the STILL LIFE exhibition at 1650 Gallery in the Echo Park neighborhood of Los Angeles (August 6 – Sep. 1, 2011).

Image requirements: JPG format, 72 ppi, image size not to exceed 1024 pixels on the longest side. Accepted entries are expected to submit images in JPG format, 300-360 dpi, minimum size 5×7".
