• Copyright: Photographers retain all rights to their work, except for submissions accepted for exhibition: artists grant Darkroom Gallery the right to use their images to promote the exhibition and for display on Darkroom Gallery website and for inclusion in an exhibit catalog.
• Entry fee: Up to four images $24 US for on-line submission and $5 US per additional image
• Entry deadline: 13th November 2013
• Who can enter: Open to all photographers who are 18+ years of age, worldwide.

Each portrait reveals something of the sitter, the photographer and also of us as viewers. No one image can muster a whole and complete being, no matter how much we believe this could be so. This is the part of the photograph we create in our imagination, we fill in each crack and hole with a sort of personalized reasoning. And all these unknowns in the midst of true transparency. Submit work depicting people, selves, faces. People that baffle us with their complexities, personalities or simplistic nature. Make us question how this person existed at this particular place and time.

Awards:

• All selected entries are exhibited in the gallery [12 Dec 2013 – 5 Jan 2014] and included in a full color exhibit catalog.
• Juror’s Choice receives a 30×48" vinyl exhibit banner featuring their image, free entry into a future exhibition and a free exhibition catalog.
• Honorable Mentions receive free exhibition catalogs and free entry in a future exhibition.
• We offer free matting and framing of accepted entries for the duration of each of our exhibition, subject to standard sizes. Photographers set their own prices if they wish to sell their work and retain all rights to their photographs.

Image requirements: no larger than 1280 pixels on the longest side, jpg format; saved at the highest quality; sRGB color space.

Online submission of digital photographs via the website or by email. There is a $5.00 surcharge for email entries.
