Creative Divergents promotes an appreciation for people willing to push boundaries in creative ways, the desire to bring more attention to works that may not fit neatly into easily defined categories and a belief in the significance of dialogue.
You can have your work seen and talked about by people from around the world. And since this is a competition, you have the chance to win the cash prize.
Prize: $250 award (USD)

The winning submission(s) will be determined by creative vision, innovation, potential to engage an audience, presentation (i.e. quality of the images submitted), and overall impression. Multiple strong submissions could even contribute to you winning. But remember, it’s about quality, not quantity.
You are required to submit at least ONE image, and may include up to THREE. Images should be at least 500 pixels wide. Files should be no larger than 1 MB each. Only jpg and jpeg files accepted.

So, have I got this right? I pay you $5.00 and send you images, I also surrender to you the right to you to do basically anything you want with them (including sell them on). In return I get the chance to win the grand prize of $250.00, which is probably less than you will be paid for the use of one image.I just copied this from your web site “You probably should read through the Submission Terms if you haven’t already. Basically, it’s saying that the work you’re submitting is your work and remains your work to do what you want with, and you’re allowing Creative Divergents to show it off.” Seems to be totally at odds with this from your conditions of entry. “Copyright: You grant Creative Divergents a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, limited license to use, publish, reproduce, display, distribute, use for promotional purposes, and sublicense for cross-promotional purposes such Submission(s), either through print, online, or other media.” Sounds dodgy to me!

ALL (at least 99.9%) photo contests are ran for a reason: to make money off of you! Either with the entry fees or when the photo contest is free with the free usage they get from the sumbitted/winner’s pics.
Even National Geographic and The Weather Channel do that! Stay away form them unless you willing to give up your rights to your images and/or get a fair retributtion for your work!
Unfortunately, including all the legalese has become an almost necessary part of doing any project that involves image use, money, large numbers of people, etc.
This showcase/competition aims to help expose people doing a wide variety of creative work, and to reward and encourage that kind of work. The prize for the next competition is being doubled, and one goal is to increase it further while keeping submission fees as low as possible. So far, all of the hundreds of hours that has gone into the creation, maintenance, promotion, etc. of Creative Divergents has been given without any compensation.
Any questions or comments about submission terms, image usage, payment, etc. are welcome: info@creativedivergents.com
Looking forward to seeing more great work!
