« Crop out as much background as possible to help direct the viewer to your subject in the photo, unless the background has compelling information important to your composition such as a scenic sky or other important element. Close-ups may provide the most visual impact, as the subject matter is taking up most of the composition. »

logo126.jpgPhotographers working in all styles, in traditional or digital formats, are invited to enter up to two of their photographic images for the international juried photography exhibition Glimpses in Time.

The top award recipient will receive a solo exhibition at the Joyce Gordon Gallery.

This year’s exhibit pays tribute to the life and art of James Van Der Zee, an American-born photographer who produced the most comprehensive documentation of the Harlem Renaissance. His experimentation with double exposures and retouching negatives allowed him to articulate the persona of a period that influenced generations of artists around the globe.
