AMATEUR CONTEST (NGT)

GRAND PRIZE

A 7-Day trip for two to The Big Island, Hawaii, including: six (6) nights at the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa on the Kohala Coast
Two (2) round-trip tickets from Honolulu to Kona on Hawaiian Airlines
a Budget rental car
One (1) dive with Jack’s Diving Locker

CATEGORY WINNERS:
One Earth Explorer Shoulder Bag designed by Bogen for National Geographic will be awarded to the winner in each category.

PROFESSIONAL CONTEST (PDN)
First place winner in each category will win a professional camera and equipment package and a Photoserve portfolio. Winners will also be published in the July PDN issue in print and online.

Eligibility: Entrants must be at least 18 years of age as of the date of entry.
Entry fee: $12 per entry for amateurs. $35 per entry for professionals. For entries received before the extended deadline, an additional $10 will be added to each entry.
Entry deadline: 15 March 2008

Why would someone “pay” to enter a contest, and give complete ownership of their work as well? I have seen this trend develop over the past few years and I for one can not, and will not, support this type of contest.

To answer the questions above.
If you look at it like this….
Whilst you capture a good image; think!
Take several.
Even a milisecond apart it is a different image and not affected by this ’sole rights’ bullshit ;o)
